If we want elephants to be around for future generations we must take ownership of the sound science and sentiments reflected in The Elephant Charter. Legislation must express what we know, commitment must follow policy, action must follow words.
We invite all Elephant Biologists and other Elephant Professionals to join us as signatories of The Elephant Charter, and we welcome all others to sign on as Friends of Elephants.
You can support The Elephant Charter as a signatory in one of three categories:
- Elephant Biologists are scientists whose profession involves or has involved the study of elephants.
- Elephant Professionals are individuals whose profession involves or has involved the care, medical treatment, protection, conservation, legal defense of elephants, advocacy for elephants or education about elephants.
Individuals in this category may be policy makers, conservationists, park wardens, rangers, scouts, naturalists, guides, sanctuary and zoo employees, veterinarians, keepers, care-givers, mahouts, lawyers, filmmakers and photographers, and others, who in a professional capacity, feel they belong here.
- Friends of Elephants are members of the public who care about elephants.
Our individual and collective voices are vital to the future of elephants - please sign on!
