We are developing a reference section so that The Elephant Charter
may be used as a document to defend the interests of elephants in a
court of law, as well as to allow interested parties to obtain further
information if they so wish. If you are looking for references
that support a specific statement contained within The Elephant Charter
Appendix simply click on the Reference link at the bottom of the page
and you can find references to the point in question. Our list is not
meant to be exhaustive and you will notice that some references are
currently missing (June 2009). Compiling references is a large task,
which we will complete over time. Since we would like to ensure that
key references are included, we would appreciate your help in
completing this section. If you have published work that
supports a particular statement, or if you know of others who have done
so, we would be grateful if you would send us an e-mail with the Principle number, the point and the paper (e.g. Principle VII
Complex Social Organization, a.: Moss, C.J. Moss and Poole, J.H. 1983.
Relationships and social structure in African elephants. In: Primate
Social Relationships: an Integrated Approach. Hinde, RA (Ed.).
Blackwell Scientific Publications, Oxford: pp 315-325.). If supporting
evidence is contained within a book please provide the page number
where possible. We would furthermore be grateful to receive the full
document in .pdf-format, so that it can be linked. |
